Pakistan joined Donald Trump’s Board of Peace in January 2026 following the October 2025 Gaza ceasefire framework, seeking closer diplomatic and financial alignment with the United States. This controversial decision sparked rare cross-party domestic criticism across Pakistan, where public consensus remains adamantly anti-Israel. Historically, Islamabad maintained vocal Pan-Islamic solidarity with Palestine alongside covert intelligence contact with Tel Aviv to safeguard core strategic interests.
However, expanding defense industrial links between Israel and India have transformed into a major national security concern for Pakistani military planners. During the 1999 Kargil conflict, Israel supplied India with thousands of 155 mm and 160 mm howitzer rounds, laser-guided bombs, and unmanned aerial vehicles. Israel is now India's third-largest defense supplier. Recent regional realignments and the signing of the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement further entrench this geopolitical divide. Consequently, diplomatic normalization between Islamabad and Tel Aviv remains completely out of reach.
