Israel's offensive in Lebanon is intensifying despite a supposed ceasefire, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowing to “crush” Hezbollah. On Tuesday alone, Israeli strikes killed 31 people, and the military ordered the evacuation of the entire city of Tyre. Israeli troops have advanced beyond the southern buffer zone, which some far-right ministers seek to annex.
This escalation may precede US intervention or aim to destabilize ongoing US-Iran peace talks, while also serving Netanyahu's domestic political interests and responding to Hezbollah's drone threats. Thousands of Lebanese, including civilians and medics, have died, and 1.2 million have fled. Bellingcat reported 46 of 54 villages in the Israeli “yellow line” are demolished or heavily damaged, mirroring tactics in Gaza, leaving many displaced without homes. The world's attention remains largely focused on Iran's broader conflict, despite Tehran's insistence that Lebanon be included in any regional agreement.
