Israeli Defense Forces instructed around a dozen Palestinian households in the West Bank village of Qusra to temporarily leave their properties after removing Israeli settlers who had besieged three homes since Sunday. Settlers had cut off power and water to the residences before military units declared the location a closed military zone and deployed armored vehicles, including a bulldozer, to dismantle two illegal outposts near Nablus.
This military intervention follows a sharp escalation in West Bank settler violence, where Israeli authorities face growing operational and diplomatic pressure to curb unauthorized land seizures. UN data indicates that settler attacks, demolitions, and evictions have forcibly displaced nearly 3,800 Palestinians in 2026, while 127 communities have suffered displacement since January 2023. Although Israeli spokespersons labeled the settler actions unacceptable and promised investigations, troops used vacated homes as temporary barracks, leaving local properties disrupted. Meanwhile, Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon reaffirmed that settlements will expand based on historical rights.
