The U.S. military has dealt irreparable damage to Iran’s theocratic dictatorship since late February, yet the ultimate solution to the Iran conflict must involve the removal of the mullahs’ regime without necessarily deploying American troops. An organized opposition movement, centered on the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), offers a “third option” for democratic change.
PMOI’s “Resistance Units” have expanded across all 31 provinces, organizing protests and challenging the regime, notably during the January uprising with over 630 operations. Iran has responded with a severe execution spree since March, targeting PMOI affiliates and protesters, reflecting the regime's fear of growing domestic dissent. A significant June 20 Paris rally, expecting over 100,000 participants, will advocate for a democratic republic based on NCRI President-elect Maryam Rajavi’s ten-point plan, urging Western governments to recognize the Iranian people's role in shaping their future.
