The Ukraine war has decisively demonstrated that all non-drone militaries are now obsolete, with drones inflicting casualty rates as high as 5 to 1 on the Russian army, causing an estimated 96% of casualties. Ukraine escalated its FPV drone usage from thousands to approximately 60,000 daily, proving drones are the supreme weapon due to their
low cost ($500 per FPV drone versus $5 million for a tank or $4,000 for an artillery shell). Advanced AI enables autonomous drone operation, from target selection to damage assessment, making traditional defenses like electronic warfare, shotguns, and even $3 million anti-drone lasers largely ineffective against swarms. A NATO "Hedgehog 2025" exercise in Estonia revealed allied forces' fundamental lack of understanding of modern drone warfare, with a small Ukrainian team mock-destroying two battalions in half a day. While Russia has adapted, the US military remains largely unprepared. China's industrial base, controlling lithium-ion batteries and rare-earth motors, positions it to rapidly produce billions of autonomous, long-range drones, posing a significant threat to any coastline, including Taiwan or California.
