Living on the Edge: A World in Chaos

The Trump Administration's policies have destroyed the US-India strategic partnership, undermining Indo-Pacific stability through immigration barriers, H-1B visa targeting, and tariffs on India, signaling contempt for its strategic autonomy. This rupture, rivalled by the disastrous Iran war, has left the Quad moribund and stalled the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC).

In West Asia, Israel's influence prompted brief US strikes on Lavan Island, yet Iran's IRGC controls Strait of Hormuz transit. Iran's unresolved nuclear question, with 400 Kgs of 60% enriched uranium, creates a deadlock, disrupting global energy markets and reigniting inflation. Simultaneously, the Russia-Ukraine conflict escalated with Ukraine's drone assaults on Moscow and Starobilsk, met by Russia's ferocious response of 90 missiles and 600 drones on Kyiv. Russia also reduced diesel exports, impacting global crude supplies; China secures Iranian crude as the US draws down its Strategic Petroleum Reserve. This highlights American strategic overstretch and diminished credibility, necessitating India's pragmatic diplomacy and strategic autonomy.
