The United States and Iran are expected to sign a 14-point Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Friday, establishing a 60-day cease-fire to facilitate further negotiations. This agreement outlines commitments for the full, toll-free reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.

Iran reaffirms its commitment to never develop nuclear weapons, with existing enriched material to be down blended on-site under IAEA supervision. The MOU also details the potential for Tehran to access a $300 billion development fund for reconstruction and a plan for lifting all U.S. sanctions. A senior U.S. official noted President Trump is prepared to resume military action if Iran violates the terms, emphasizing the MOU is not fully binding until a final deal. The agreement includes provisions for the U.S. to remove its naval blockade and forces, while Iran ensures safe commercial vessel passage.
