[MAP MONDAY] WATCH CYBER ATTACKS AROUND THE WORLD AS THEY HAPPEN

America and India are at war – cyberwar that is. Or at least they are if you believe Check Point’s ThreatCloud World Cyber Threat Map.

The software technology company created the map using ThreatCloud intelligence, a collaborative anti-cybercrime network which delivers threat data and attack trends from a global network of sensors.

The map shows that the US is the top attacking country and India is the top most targeted.

Over the last month most of South Africa’s attacks have come from the US and the most popular malware type is bot communication.

Over 952 000 cyber attacks were recorded yesterday and more than 155 000 have already been recorded today since midnight.

“It can be hard for organisations to grasp the sheer speed and global scale at which cyber-attacks happen,” said Doros Hadjizenonos, sales manager for Check Point South Africa. “We wanted to develop a tool to help businesses understand how rapidly the threat landscape is moving so that they can take steps to strengthen their security implementations and better defend themselves against cyber attacks”.
