The Global Terrorism Index recently revealed that deaths from terrorism increased 80 percent last year when compared to the previous year.

The number of countries affected by deadly attacks has also increased dramatically since the turn of the century, in 2014, 17 countries had over 250 deaths while 11 had over 500 deaths.
