Saudi Arabia's UN representative, Abdulaziz Alwasil, told the Security Council that the Palestinian issue is central to the Middle East conflict, asserting lasting peace requires ending Israel’s occupation. Speaking for the Arab Group, Alwasil emphasized an independent Palestinian state on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, crucial for Palestinians' inalienable rights.
The group voiced extreme concern over Israeli violations in Occupied Territories—civilian targeting, settlement expansion, land confiscation, and annexation—which threaten regional stability. The Arab Group rejected all Israeli measures to entrench occupation or impose sovereignty as "null and void" violations of international law. They welcomed Gaza ceasefire efforts, urging a comprehensive plan to end conflict, protect civilians, and launch a credible political track toward a two-state solution. The group condemned "massacres" against Palestinians, demanding immediate, sustained humanitarian access throughout Gaza, and rejected using aid as political pressure. Alwasil also condemned Israeli moves to annex parts of Gaza and displace residents, reaffirming Jerusalem’s 1967 status.
