The United States, Russia, and China are systematically expanding their respective nuclear weapon delivery architectures, gearing up for an intensified three-way arms competition across sea, air, and land domains. Washington is currently engineering a new intercontinental ballistic missile, a strategic bomber, and updated ballistic missile submarines to replace legacy hardware.

Broad national defense modernizations drive this expanding tri-polar nuclear rivalry. Moscow is actively developing a heavy intercontinental ballistic missile alongside an updated warhead design, while executing planned technical upgrades to its submarine fleet and strategic bombers. Concurrently, Beijing has excavated more than 300 new missile silos, fielded operational air-launched ballistic missiles, and initiated development on both a new stealth bomber and next-generation submarines. Major nuclear powers confront mounting strategic tension. All three nuclear-armed states are making critical modernizing decisions regarding their strategic arsenals that will shape global force balances for decades to come.

The United States Air Force's LGM-35A Sentinel ICBM program illustrates this industrial friction, where replacing Minuteman III infrastructure requires rapid scaling of solid-fuel rocket motor production. Simultaneous requirements for Columbia-class submarine hull fabrication and B-21 Raider bomber production further compress naval shipyard capacity and composite material supply chains.

As a second-order consequence, defence prime contractors face skilled labor shortages that delay delivery schedules for non-strategic acquisition programs.
