Begun, the New Star Wars: How the US Must Capture AI-Cyber and Space Warfare

The United States military must rapidly integrate artificial intelligence, cyber capabilities, and space-based assets to secure dominance against near-peer adversaries like China and Russia. This strategic imperative, reminiscent of the Cold War-era Strategic Defense Initiative, requires a fundamental shift in how the Pentagon conceptualises multi-domain operations. As Beijing and Moscow accelerate their deployment of counter-space weapons and sophisticated cyber-warfare tools, traditional American military superiority faces unprecedented degradation.

To counter these asymmetric threats, the U.S. Space Force and Cyber Command are expanding joint operational frameworks to protect critical orbital infrastructure and secure tactical data links. Ultimately, the integration of autonomous decision-making algorithms into satellite constellations will determine the outcome of future high-intensity conflicts. Failing to capture these emerging technological frontiers risks ceding the high ground of modern warfare, leaving terrestrial forces vulnerable to systemic disruption during a major Pacific contingency.
