Collapse of US-Iran Ceasefire and the Rise of Chaotic Multipolar World Order

The United States military has launched a massive aerial campaign striking over 170 Iranian targets after the collapse of the Versailles ceasefire, severely threatening global energy security. This escalation followed the failure of the Muscat diplomatic talks and subsequent Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps drone attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

In response to the renewed hostilities, Iran retaliated with ballistic missile and suicide drone strikes against 85 United States-linked facilities across Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar. To secure the passage, President Donald Trump declared a naval blockade on Iranian oil and demanded an unprecedented 20% maritime security levy on all commercial cargo transiting the strait. This geopolitical friction has driven Brent crude prices to $83 per barrel, forced the United States to deplete its Strategic Petroleum Reserve to a historic 43-year low of 319.5 million barrels, and severely impacted energy-dependent nations like India and China.

New Delhi must rapidly diversify its energy import channels away from the Persian Gulf. The proposed American transit levy threatens Indian maritime trade competitiveness. Indian naval assets in the Arabian Sea require enhanced escort capabilities for commercial shipping. Strategic autonomy remains the core pillar of India's regional defence doctrine.
