The renewed hostilities stem from a dispute over the Strait of Hormuz, which Iranian forces blocked after Washington reinstated a maritime blockade on domestic ports. In response, the Revolutionary Guard Corps warned of potential disruptions to alternative allied energy export routes, causing global oil prices to spike as tanker traffic stalls. Meanwhile, US Central Command disabled a Curacao-flagged tanker attempting to breach the blockade near Bandar Abbas.
