Saudi Arabia faces severe security vulnerabilities following a coordinated Houthi drone and missile blitz that bypassed advanced air defence systems, exposing critical infrastructure to sustained aerial threats. The offensive underscores the growing tactical proficiency of the Yemeni rebel group, which has increasingly deployed low-cost, precision-guided munitions to target Saudi energy facilities and military installations.

Riyadh remains highly vulnerable. This development has significantly emboldened Iran, the primary state sponsor of the Houthis, by demonstrating the efficacy of its proxy warfare model against a heavily armed regional adversary. The strikes have exposed the limitations of traditional air defence networks, such as the US-made Patriot missile systems, which struggle to intercept low-altitude, slow-flying unmanned aerial vehicles.
