Exploring PRC Research on Kill Chains and Kill Webs: How Might it Help the PLA?

Chinese military analysts affiliated with the People’s Republic of China’s national security apparatus are actively incorporating U.S.-derived kill chain, kill web, and kill mesh constructs to optimize the People’s Liberation Army’s operational capabilities. This systematic adoption aims to dramatically compress sensor-to-shooter timelines, identify critical vulnerabilities in adversary networks, and enhance dynamic command and control during high-intensity system confrontation.

Grounded in the PLA's doctrinal shift toward intelligentized warfare, this research leverages advanced modeling and simulation to evaluate dynamic node importance and resource allocation. National and military funding streams support these efforts across academic institutions like the National University of Defense Technology and defense conglomerates including China Electronics Technology Group Corporation. Consequently, these institutions are developing hardware and software enablers, such as artificial intelligence and low Earth orbit satellite integration, to coordinate multi-platform operations. These advancements present an escalating threat to U.S. forces by enabling the PLA to disrupt adversary systems while securing its own operational resilience.
